THE JAIL BREAKER CRUMLIN ROAD JAIL

The Crumlin road jail is on the Belfast Hop on Hop off route. The Jail Breaker ticket entitles the holder to a £2 discount on entry & full 2 Day Hop on Hop off Belfast bus tour ticket. The jail is steeped in history and has been voted one of Irelands most haunted locations, It served as the Jail to Belfast City from 1846, It also housed all political prisoners before the building of long kesh and the Maze prisons.

The Crumlin road jail is full of tales about past prisoners and has lost none of its victorian horror, It still has the Hanging room with noose in place, When inside the Crumlin road jail you will be fully guided. When buying the discount ticket it gives you the flexibility to arrive and enter without having a set time and works out much better than any Combination tour, Being an avid traveller myself and not being sure of strange cities when travelling it puts no pressure on you to arrive at a Exact time, Arrive during opening times and get your discount into the Belfast Attraction.

Best of all Belfast Hop on Hop off bus drops off outside at Stop 24 the Crumlin road Gaol, picking up outside every 30-45 minutes, Reboard the Belfast Sightseeing tour bus when your finished and carry on the full Belfast City tour, Included in your price with the Jailbreaker, You can view the Belfast bus tour timetable below, Booking takes 30 secounds receive your E-Tickets to use instantly or on your tour date.

We were on the last tour of the day and it was just the two of us. Even though it was an unexpected private tour our guide still told everything with a lot of enthusiasm and detail. He even had some shocking anecdotes for us and they tried to make it as ‘real’ as possible! We were definitely blown away by the end of the tour. A big shootout to our tour guide Iain! We really recommend visiting the Crumlin Road Gaol!

One of the prisons of "The Troubles".. tour guide was a very informative and diplomatic young man. Not a "fun" place to visit but will move your heart from the tragedy of it all.

Cruming Road Gaol closed its doors for the last time in 1996, and reopened in 2012 as a tourist attraction. Experience guides bring to life the living history through a series of recreated exhibits within the cells. The guide's knowledge of Crumlin Road Goal makes this tour very special. The next 70 minutes you experience what life must have been like for those imprisoned. We were taken to C Wing. Viewed the punishment cells, condemned man's and the execution chamber that received the condemned prisoner. We went outside into the exercise yard where executed prisoners were buried in unmarked graves, and remain to this day.

Crumlin Road Gaol was a holding prison for transportation to the colonies. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Irish convicts were transported to Australia. More recently the prison housed well known political prisoners.

There is an interesting collection of prison artefacts. A good coffee shop and Cuff's bar and grill where I had lunch. The Gaol may not be for everyone but I found it most interesting. Children are able to join the tour but not allowed into the execution chamber. Entry to this prison is by guide only, The Jailbreaker tour drops off outside the main gate at the metro bus stop, So is very handy for the Attraction when visiting Belfast.
