Your adventure kicks off at 9:00 AM with a convenient departure from central Belfast, setting the stage for an unforgettable day.
Carrickfergus Castle – A Step Back in Time
Though not a Game of Thrones filming location, Carrickfergus Castle is an essential stop on your tour. Built by the Normans in 1177 AD, this historic fortress has stood the test of time, enduring countless battles and sieges.
Located on the picturesque shores of Belfast Lough, it remains one of the best-preserved castles in Ireland, offering stunning views and a fascinating glimpse into medieval history. You'll have the chance to enter and explore its impressive interiors, making it a must-see for history lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.
Carnlough Harbour – Welcome to Braavos
We then follow the stunning Causeway Coastal Route to Carnlough Harbour, better known to fans as Braavos. It was here in Season 6 that Arya Stark, badly wounded, dragged herself from the icy waters after being attacked by the Waif.
This charming fishing village, unchanged for generations, made the perfect backdrop for one of Arya’s most intense moments.
Portaneevy Viewpoint – Beautiful Views
Continuing north along the coast, we arrive at Portaneevy Viewpoint, offering some of the most breathtaking panoramic views in Northern Ireland. Towering cliffs frame the wild Atlantic, and on a clear day, you can even spot Scotland’s Mull of Kintyre across the sea.
The Dark Hedges – Walk the Kingsroad
Next, we visit one of the most Instagrammable locations in Northern Ireland, the Dark Hedges, known in Game of Thrones as the Kingsroad. Featured in Season 2, Episode 1 – "The North Remembers," this hauntingly beautiful tunnel of ancient beech trees was where Arya Stark disguised herself as a boy and fled King’s Landing.
Here, you’ll have the chance to capture stunning photos before enjoying lunch at the nearby Hedges Hotel. View the menu below below and refuel like a Stark before continuing your journey.
Giant’s Causeway – A Natural Wonder
As a special addition to your Game of Thrones tour, we visit the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway—a landscape shrouded in myth and legend. You’ll have approximately two hours to explore the famous hexagonal stones, hear tales of Finn McCool, and take in the dramatic coastal scenery.
Dunluce Castle – House Greyjoy
Before heading back to Belfast, we make one final stop at Dunluce Castle, the real-life Pyke and seat of House Greyjoy. Perched dramatically on the edge of rugged sea cliffs, this 13th-century fortress is every bit as awe-inspiring in person as it appears on screen.
Here, you can enter and explore the atmospheric ruins or simply take in the stunning views and capture the perfect photo outside. It’s the ideal way to end your epic adventure through Westeros.
