Carrickfergus Castle

Our first stop is Carrickfergus Castle, one of the most well-preserved and impressive Norman castles in Ireland. Built in 1177 by John de Courcy, it has stood watch over Belfast Lough for more than 800 years, surviving attacks from Scots, Irish, English, and even the French. Its strategic location made it a key military stronghold for centuries, it even served as an air raid shelter during World War 2.

Step inside Carrickfergus Castle to explore its medieval chambers, including the Great Hall, dungeons, and an impressive collection of weapons and armour. Alternatively, take in the stunning views of the harbour and relax with a coffee, soaking in the scenery.

Antrim Coastal Road

The Antrim Coast Road is regularly ranked among the world’s most scenic drives, with dramatic waves crashing on one side and the rolling Glens of Antrim rising on the other.

You’ll pass through postcard-perfect villages like Carnlough, Cushendall, and Waterfoot, all while your guide shares fascinating stories of history and folklore. Keep an eye out for dolphins playing along the coastline, they’re a common sight here.

Rope Bridge Viewpoint

While we don’t cross the bridge, we stop at the dramatic Portaneevy viewpoint for a panoramic look at the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, the cliffs, and even Scotland on a clear day. It’s a perfect place for a scenic breather and one of the most photo-worthy parts of the trip.

The Dark Hedges

Step into one of Northern Ireland’s most famous scenes — the atmospheric Dark Hedges. Known to many as the King’s Road from Game of Thrones, this tunnel of twisted beech trees is a magnet for photographers. You’ll also stop for a delicious lunch at the Hedges Hotel, offering options for all dietary needs.

The Giant’s Causeway

No tour would be complete without the main event, the Giant’s Causeway. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is made up of around 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns, formed by ancient volcanic activity, or as locals passionately believe, by the feuding giants Finn McCool and Benandonner.

It’s a story that’s been unfolding for millions of years, and now it’s your turn to experience it.

Dunluce Castle

Dunluce Castle, perched on rugged cliffs above the North Atlantic, is a sight to behold. This 13th-century ruin is steeped in history and rebellion, once the seat of the powerful Earls of Antrim. After the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, the MacDonnell clan’s fortunes crumbled, leaving the castle to stand as a symbol of their lost power. You’ll have the chance to explore the ruins or simply snap an iconic photo to remember the visit.
